HeyDidYou ("the App") is a local-first family safety check-in application for Android, developed by GHCreationX. The App is engineered for families and caregivers to support the daily routines and safety of seniors, children, and loved ones.

We believe privacy is a fundamental human right. This policy outlines our strict offline-first principles, how local permissions are utilized, and why your data never leaves your device.

2. Sensitive Android Permissions

To deliver automated safety pulses and caregiver fail-safes, the App requests specific system permissions:

• SMS Permission (`SEND_SMS`) — Emergency Caregiver Alert:
  Used strictly to send direct cellular SMS text messages to a designated caregiver when a safety check-in remains unconfirmed after a grace period.
  • Caregiver Defined: SMS messages are only sent to the specific mobile number manually entered by you during setup.
  • No Interception or Access: We do not read, access, store, or log your personal incoming or outgoing SMS conversations.
  • Zero Data Sale: Contact numbers are stored exclusively in your local device database and are never sold, rented, or shared.
• Microphone (`RECORD_AUDIO`) — Custom Voice Reminders:
  Used solely when you choose to record custom audio reminders for specific task items. All voice recordings are saved as local audio files on your phone storage and are never uploaded.
• Exact Alarms (`SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM`):
  Used to trigger safety check-in pulses accurately on schedule, even when the device enters Android Doze power-saving mode.
• Notifications (`POST_NOTIFICATIONS`):
  Used to display persistent check-in notifications and status updates on screen.

3. Local Storage & Security

All app configuration — including PIN codes, task routines, schedules, history logs, and caregiver numbers — is stored locally in an encrypted Room database on your device. Your data is protected by your phone's native Android security (biometrics, screen lock, and device encryption). If you uninstall the App, all data is permanently erased.

4. Third-Party Analytics & Advertisements

HeyDidYou contains zero advertisements, zero third-party analytics SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics or Google Analytics), and zero tracking pixels.

5. Children's Privacy

HeyDidYou is designed for family use under parental or caregiver guidance. Because the App collects no personal information, accounts, or location telemetry, it fully complies with family safety standards.
